Red carpet season has officially started folks. Yes, get ready to see everyone bring their A-game for truly show stopping display of fashion finery. The 2019 Golden Globes red carpet has certainly kicked things off in a suitably stylish manner.

Celebrities descended on the Beverly Hilton in LA for this years star-studded awards ceremony which was presented by Killing Eve’s Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg. Last year, attendees wore black outfits in honor of the #TimesUp movement which protested gender inequality and sexual harassment in Hollywood.

Now, onto the good stuff. From Lady Gaga to Jessica Chastain and Emily Blunt to Sandra Oh it’s safe to say this year’s red carpet was anything by boring. Our favourites of the evening had to be Lady Gaga, Lupita Nyong’o, Rosamund Pike and Saoirse Ronan.

When it comes to trends, this year saw several take centre stage. Let’s hear it for the blues. Lady Gaga went for a show stopping gown in powder blue whilst Lupita’s beaded dress in periwinkle was just stunning. Amy Adams and Camilla Belle went for shades for blue too.

Pretty in Pink: Emmy Rossum, Jameela Jamil, Lucy Liu, Regina King, Kate Mara

Pink seemed to be the colour du jour with everyone from Emma Stone to Jameela Jamil all opting for varying shades and tones. Lucy Liu’s embellished number with frothy layered cape was a real triumph.

Metallics brigade: Rosamund Pike, Felicity Huffman, Keri Russell, Melissa McCarthy, Jamie Lee Curtis

From head to toe looks to statement embellishments, we saw metallics interpreted in several ways this year. Rosamund Pike wore an amazing jewelled jacket, whilst Saoirse Ronan went for a 1920’s gown and Melissa McCarthy added a focus point to her purple dress with embellished stars on her shoulder.

What do Olivia Coleman, Jessica Chastain, Octavia Spencer, Jodie Comer and Penelope Cruz all have in common? They wore black on the red carpet, duh! And all absolutely slayed us with their looks.

In the monochrome corner, Rachel Weisz, Charlize Theron and Amber Heard all looked timeless and super chic.
