London Fashion Week may have brought us the accessories we need to be investing in, including the necklace the entire FROW was wearing, however at Milan Fashion Week, it’s all about shoes.
Without going into clichés, Italian women really do do shoes quite well. From the dramatic (feathered heeled sandals) to the understated (chic ankle boots), they can effortlessly dress from the foot up, and here are some street style pics to prove it.
Oh and if you want to emulate their style, I’ve managed to find either the exact shoes or similar, for you to shop…
The animal print boots
There will always be room in an Italian woman’s wardrobe for some leopard print shoes – this is the land of Dolce & Gabbana after all. However, this season, they’re staying firmly in the closet, to make room for some snake print or faux croc boots.
Wear them a la Italiana, with a bold printed dress.
Shop now: ATP Atelier Nila Boot in Printed SnakeT for £426.08 from Need Supply Co.
The designer trainers
You might think that Italian women are too chic to wear trainers, but think again. It’s all about getting that Hi-Lo balance right. Pair your box-fresh trainers with leopard print palazzo pants or a floaty midi dress.
Shop now: Leather Portofino sneakers for around £490 from Dolce & Gabbana
The party shoes
Don’t bother choosing between sequins, feathers, pom poms or jewels, because when it comes to party shoes, more is more – and it works, as evidenced by the above Prada beauties. Tone them down with jeans and a white men’s shirt, or up with a silk slip dress.
Shop now: MIU MIU Embellished glittered leather pumps for £650 from Net-A-Porter
The Victoria sock boots
Despite what you think, there is such a thing as understated shoes in Milan, and this season they come in the form of Victoria-style boots, paired with shirt dress in tonal shades.
Shop now: LAURENCE DACADE Sully quilted suede ankle boots for £695 from Net-A-Porter
The chic court shoes

Now over to Paris Fashion Week where the French ladies will no doubt give us a classic style lesson or two.
A très bientôt.
